June Competition – LightingJudge: Darren & Carly – Your World Of ColourBeginners: 3RD: Daybreak on Wrekin. Emma Dodd Sucker for a sunrise or a sunset, this sunrise is nicely framed just above the path and one easily leads to the other. Nice colours in the light sky and darker foreground. 2ND: Leaf. Bev T Another slightly surreal picture, with lots of dark and light areas throughout. The light park of the leaf bathed in light whilst the dark areas top and bottom work really well. 1ST: Light: Bev T This is a nice, surreal and warm imageIntermediate: 3RD: At the end of the day: Lu Dunne A rule-breaker – lens flares are generally a no-no, but in the context of a competition around light, this works. Apeaceful, tranquil woodland with the warm red/orange light glinting through makes this work. 2ND: Fire Wool. Keith Dawson A pretty pattern and orange colour throughout this image. 1ST: Midnight Water Feature. Andrew Ogdon A spooky / surreal style image with plenty of intrigue upon first glance. A nice central light source and pretty blues and blacks as you look further and further out.Experienced: 3RD: Postojna Cave. Duncan Gray The detail in this image is exquisite! The additions of the different coloured lights into the distance of the scene works really well. The person in the foreground could be removed, but they don’t stand out due to their clothing colour so its not the end of the world for the picture. 2ND: Backlit Clouds. Wendy Kerr The movement of the clouds in this picture give a pretty, surreal feel. The foreground is nicely lit and the detail in the plans/rocks is enough to give an idea of what they are. 1ST: Spiral. John Verlander & Overall Winner A beautiful image! The light hitting the underside of the steps leads your eye all the way to the middle of the image and the rooftop. The patterns in the handrail going from dark to light are another little treat for the eye.
